The rear glass is tall and curved; the ceramic film is heat-formed to it and applied in a single pass over the defroster lines.
Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck
Each one is a different pattern. The Model Y hatch is taller than the Model 3 rear glass, the S and X have more glass overall, and the Cybertruck's panels are flat. Prices are set by model.

Whittier to the Carson shop
Whittier is about 16.7 miles out, roughly 33 to 40 minutes outside rush hour. Hours run Monday to Saturday from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with Sunday closed. Set an appointment, then wait at the shop or drop the Model 3 off and return when the film is on.
Waiting inside is easy for Whittier customers: there is seating, Netflix on the TV, free Wi-Fi, a restroom and a water fountain, and a mall, movie theaters, restaurants and a Starbucks are within walking distance. Is the drive from Whittier reasonable for Model 3 tint?
Yes. It is a little over half an hour outside rush hour, and the frameless doors on a Model 3 are worth taking to a shop that cuts them to the glass line every day. Owners have come from over 100 miles for the same job.
What goes wrong with Model 3 tint when it is done quickly?
Usually the door edge or the rear window. A film edge cut short on a frameless door shows a bright line when the door is open, and a rear window done in two strips leaves a seam in the mirror. Both are avoided by cutting on a glass board and using one sheet on the rear.
Can the Model 3 front windows be tinted legally in California?
Yes. Front door glass stays at 70% light transmission, and ceramic film at that level still rejects a large portion of infrared heat. The rear doors and the back glass can be darker, which is where most owners put the shade.
How is Model 3 tint priced compared with a Model Y or Model X?
Every model gets its own quote at the shop. The Model 3 is the quickest job; the Model Y has a bigger hatch window and the Model X has far more glass. Text us with the year and model and you will get a quote.
Will the Model 3 cameras or phone key be affected by tint?
No. The camera cluster behind the windshield and the fender repeaters are masked off, with the film ending short of each one. Ceramic film carries no metal, so the phone key, cellular and GPS signals are unchanged and Autopilot sees the same view.
