The windshield camera housing and the pillar lenses stay uncovered, and the film is cut on a board to stop short of them. Tesla's roof glass comes dark from the factory, and the side and rear panes are where the film goes.
The doors and the rear pane are patterned away from the car and installed as single clean pieces, with no bubbles trapped along the edges.

Noticeably. The rear glass and the side windows on a Model 3 or Model Y take sun all day. Ceramic film on that glass cuts a large share of the heat that would otherwise land on your seats and steering wheel, so the car cools faster when you get in.
