A larger hatch window than the 3 and the same ceramic film. Its roof glass is already dark from the factory, so the doors and the rear glass are what get filmed.
Model S and Model X
The S has the longest door glass, the X the tallest. Both take more shaping and more film, and the quote reflects that.
Cameras and the phone key
Camera windows are masked and left bare, and the ceramic film has no metal in it, so signals pass through unchanged.

Count on about 14.5 miles and 29 to 35 minutes outside rush hour. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Sunday. Book a time first; after that, drop the car and go about your day or wait at the shop until it is done.
If you would rather wait inside than make two trips from East Los Angeles, the shop has seating, a TV with Netflix, free Wi-Fi, a restroom and a water fountain. Is East Los Angeles close enough to make Tesla tint worth the drive?
About 14.5 miles, 29 to 35 minutes outside rush hour, is well inside the range people travel for this work. Owners have called from as far as San Jose. Book, drive in, and the Model 3 is finished the same day.
What makes a Model 3 tint job go wrong elsewhere?
Usually an edge cut short from a plotter pattern, which shows as a line of light at the top of the frameless glass, or a rear window that was stretched instead of heat-shaped. We cut on a board to the actual glass and form the rear piece before it goes on.
Can I tint the front doors of a Model 3 in California?
Yes, at 70% VLT. Ceramic film at that shade looks close to clear and still blocks a large share of the infrared heat, so the front seats stay comfortable. Rear doors and the back glass can be as dark as you like.
Will window film cause problems with Tesla cameras?
No. The camera areas on the glass are masked off and never covered, and ceramic film contains no metal that could interfere with a signal. Cameras, sensors and the phone key behave exactly as they did when you drove in.
How do I get a Model 3 tint price from East Los Angeles?
