The factory roof glass is already dark, so the heat that reaches the front seats comes through the doors and back window. Ceramic film on those panes rejects the bulk of it, and from outside the car looks the same.
Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. Curved rear glass is done as one sheet, frameless doors are cut to the seal, and the Cybertruck's flat panes are board-cut. Quoted by model.

Yes, and it is the first thing owners mention. The side and rear panes take the low coastal sun straight in. Ceramic film cuts most of the infrared heat before it enters, so after a few hours parked the seats and steering wheel are not radiating heat at you.
Most Malibu owners do the sides and the rear in one visit, which makes the trip count. Over an hour each way is still shorter than many of our Tesla customers drive. Book a morning slot and the car is usually ready to go home the same afternoon.
Hardly at all. The factory roof glass is already dark and the film goes on the inside of the side and rear glass, so the exterior looks unchanged. Inside, glare is softer and the heat is down. There is no exterior coating and no change to the paint.
It blocks UV, which is what fades dashboards, seats and trim over time. Combined with the heat rejection, the cabin stays cooler and the materials last longer. That matters for a car that spends its days parked outside near the water.
Yes. California requires front door glass to pass 70% of visible light, and ceramic film at that shade still rejects most of the infrared heat. The rear doors and rear window have no limit, so those can go darker if you want privacy.
