The Y has a tall rear hatch window and frameless door glass that drops when the door opens, so the film edge has to be cut to sit just below the seal line. We shrink the film on the outside of the glass before it goes in, which is how it ends up flat with no fingers at the corners.
Same ceramic film, different glass shapes. The Model 3 rear window is a one-piece job, the Model S side glass is long and curved, and the Model X has tall doors, so each model gets its own quote at the shop.
Flat glass sounds easy, but the panels are large and the truck's edges are unforgiving. We cut it on a board, not on the paint.
A lot of Model Y owners ask about heat on their head and shoulders. The factory roof glass is already dark, so ceramic film on the doors and rear glass is where the change comes from, without altering the look.

Because Tesla glass gets tinted here every week, and the Model Y in particular. The rear hatch window goes on as a single sheet, the frameless doors are cut to clear the seals, and the cameras stay clear. Lawndale is close enough that most owners wait at the shop and drive home the same afternoon.
No. The ceramic film we install has no metal layer, so the phone key, the cellular connection and the glass-mounted cameras all behave exactly as they did before. The camera windows on the glass are left clear on purpose, not covered and trimmed afterward.
Front door glass must let 70% of visible light through, so the fronts stay light. The rear doors and rear window can go as dark as you want, and the factory roof glass is already dark. Ceramic film at the legal front shade still cuts a large share of the heat, which is the point for most owners.
Yes, and it is a common pairing. A dash camera wired into the Tesla cleanly, with the cable tucked along the headliner and down the pillar, takes extra time, so tell us when you book and we will block enough of the day. Plan to drop the car off rather than wait.
Most Model Y tint jobs are done the same day; book in the morning if you want it back by evening. Leave the windows up for a few days afterward so the film cures against the glass. We go over the care steps with you at pickup.
