What La Puente Teslas get

One-piece rear window film

The back glass on a Model 3 or Model Y curves hard in two directions. We heat-shrink a single sheet of ceramic film on the outside of the glass until it matches, then install it inside. Strips are faster; one piece is what you want to look through every day.

Side glass on every model

Frameless Tesla doors mean the film edge is cut to sit under the seal so it cannot lift when the window drops. The Model S and Model X get more shaping, the Cybertruck is a flat board-cut. Each is quoted by model.

Cabin heat

The factory roof glass is already dark; ceramic film on the doors and rear glass handles the heat that reaches the seats.

No signal problems

The film has no metal in it; the phone key, the cell connection and the cameras keep working.

Need a dash camera, a GPS tracker, a car alarm with remote start or a stereo upgrade? Audio MotorSports does those in the same bay.

    Questions

    La Puente questions we hear

What does a rear window tinted in strips look like compared to one piece?

Strips leave horizontal lines across the glass that catch the sun and show in the mirror. A single sheet, shrunk to the curve before it goes on, looks like dark factory glass. On a Tesla you look through that rear window constantly, so the difference is there every drive.

Is it worth the drive from La Puente for a one-piece rear window?

If you plan to keep the car, yes. The rear glass is the hardest piece on the car and the one that shows poor work most. About an hour each way gets you a shop that tints Teslas every day. Drop the car off in the morning and it is usually ready the same day.

Does one-piece film cover the Tesla rear camera?

No. The rear camera on a Tesla sits in the trunk or hatch lid, not on the glass, so the rear window film never touches it. The pillar cameras are outside the door glass. The windshield camera zone is left uncovered. Nothing about the cameras changes.

How dark can the back glass go on a Tesla in California?

As dark as you want. California restricts only the front door glass, which must pass 70% of visible light. The rear doors and rear window have no limit, and most owners go dark in the back for privacy and heat with a legal shade in front.

How long does the back window need to cure after the install?

A few days with the windows up and the rear defroster off. The film is bonding to the glass during that time. After that, use the defroster normally and clean the film with an ammonia-free cleaner. Ceramic film does not fade or bubble, so it is low maintenance from then on.
