The falcon-wing glass curves and hinges at the roof, so the film is formed to the curve and trimmed to clear the seal where the door closes down. The front doors are tall and the windshield gets only a visor strip, kept below the camera housing.

On the X the rear seats sit behind big side glass and the rear window. Ceramic film on the third-row glass and the rear window keeps the back of the cabin from cooking; the factory roof glass is already dark.

Book a time, then drop the Model X off for the day or wait at the shop. Owners drive in from well beyond 100 miles for Tesla tint, so Hacienda Heights is a normal trip.
Plenty of Hacienda Heights drivers wait inside; there is seating, a TV with Netflix, free Wi-Fi and a restroom, and if you want to stretch your legs a mall, coffee shops and restaurants are a short walk away. The glass is curved and the door swings up from the roof, so the film has to follow the curve and stop exactly where the seal meets the body, or an edge will catch every time the door closes. It is slower than a normal rear door, which is why the Model X has its own quote.
Plan on most of a day if you are doing all the glass. Most Hacienda Heights owners drop the car off in the morning and pick it up later rather than wait. If you only want the sides and rear, it can be quicker; we will tell you when you book.
Yes. The film is non-metallic, so the phone key, Bluetooth and cellular signals pass through, and the camera areas on the glass are left uncovered. The film is trimmed clear of every sensor housing. Autopilot sees the same view it did before.
As dark as you want. The law limits only the front door glass, which must pass 70% of visible light. Rear doors, the third-row quarter glass and the rear window have no limit, and most owners go dark back there.
Yes, immediately. The film sits on the inside of the glass and does not touch the hinge or the seal. Just keep the windows up for a few days while the film cures, and leave the rear defroster off during that period. After that, use everything as normal.
