Tesla tint for Fountain Valley drivers

Model S window tint

Each front door pane on the S is long and curves in two directions, so the film is heat-formed on the outside of the glass until it fits, then installed inside with the edge tucked under the seal. The rear window is done as a single piece.

Model 3 and Model Y ceramic tint

Shorter glass, same method: one-piece rear window, frameless doors cut to the seal, camera zones left open.

Model X and Cybertruck

Falcon-wing glass on the X and flat board-cut panes on the Cybertruck, each with a quote by model.

Windshield strip

A visor strip at the top of the windshield, kept below the camera housing.

Audio MotorSports installs dash cameras, GPS trackers, Viper alarms and car stereo gear in the same bay, so ask about pairing one.

    Questions

    Fountain Valley questions we hear

Why does the Model S take more shaping than other Teslas?

Its door glass is the longest Tesla makes and it curves two ways at once. A flat sheet of film has to be warmed and worked on the outside of the glass until it follows every bit of that curve, then moved inside. That shaping is most of the labor, which is why the quote is by model.

Can a Fountain Valley owner get the Model S back the same day?

Usually, yes. Book a morning slot, drop the car off, and it is typically ready by late afternoon. If you are adding the windshield strip to the doors and rear glass, plan on most of the day. Waiting at the shop is fine too; the drive from Fountain Valley is short enough for either.

Does the film affect the Model S windshield sensors or the phone key?

No. The windshield camera and rain sensor housing is left uncovered, and the ceramic film has no metal, so the phone key, Bluetooth and cellular data are unaffected. The car unlocks, connects and drives exactly as it did before the tint.

What is the legal front shade for a Model S in California?

The front door glass must pass 70% of visible light. Ceramic film at that shade still rejects most infrared heat, so the fronts are cooler without looking dark. The rear doors and rear window have no limit, and most owners go darker there.

When can I use the rear defroster after one-piece film?

After a few days. The film cures against the glass during that time, so keep the windows up and the defroster off. Once cured, the defroster works normally through the film, and the lines look no different than they do through factory glass.
