Side and rear glass heat control
The Model 3 and Model Y roof glass is already dark from the factory. What lets the afternoon heat in is the door glass and the big back window, and ceramic film on those panes rejects most of the infrared.

The Model 3 and Model Y roof glass is already dark from the factory. What lets the afternoon heat in is the door glass and the big back window, and ceramic film on those panes rejects most of the infrared.
The rest of the glass gets the same ceramic film: one-piece rear window, frameless doors cut to clear the seals, cameras left open.
The S has the longest doors, the X the tallest, and the Cybertruck is all flat panes; each one carries its own quote by model.
A strip across the top of the windshield cuts the glare that the sun visor misses, without entering the camera zone.
Audio MotorSports installs dash cameras, Viper alarms, GPS trackers and car stereo gear in the same shop, so a Garden Grove visit can cover more than the tint.
It is about 18.9 miles, roughly 38 to 45 minutes outside rush hour. Open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM; closed Sunday. Set up an appointment, then drop the Tesla off for the day or wait at the shop while it is done. People drive to us from more than 100 miles away for Tesla tint, so Garden Grove is well inside the normal range.
You can wait inside with free Wi-Fi, Netflix on the TV, seating, a restroom and a water fountain, or walk to the mall, a movie theater or a Starbucks nearby while the Garden Grove job is finished. The shop is LGBTQ-friendly and everyone from Garden Grove is welcome. Coming from Garden Grove, take whichever is moving: the shop is right off the 110 and easy from the 405 and the 710.
Tesla window tint is quoted by model at the shop; text the year and model for a figure. For a non-Tesla reference, Solar is $249 and Solar Ceramic is $329 installed, as of October 2026. Remaining work is quoted at the shop. Payment plan available, ask Nick. Google 4.8 (655 reviews) and Yelp 4.7 (777 reviews), as of October 2026.
Questions
Yes, and it is the change owners notice first. The doors and the rear window face the low sun for hours. Ceramic film rejects a large share of the infrared heat before it reaches the cabin, so the seats and the air feel cooler at the end of a parking lot afternoon.
Barely. The factory roof glass is already dark and the ceramic film is a neutral shade, so from the street the car keeps its look. The difference is inside: less heat on your arms and legs, less glare, and the climate system working less to keep up.
Because Tesla glass is a specialty. The one-piece rear window, the frameless doors and the camera zones all have to be handled a particular way. Our shop does this every day, and the forty-minute drive buys film that is cut right the first time.
Yes. The film goes on the inside surface of the glass with the car assembled. There is no disassembly, no drilling and nothing to put back. The work is in the cutting and the shrinking, which is done on the outside of the glass before the film is moved inside.
For the front doors, the legal shade is the one that passes 70% of visible light, and ceramic film at that shade still blocks most heat. Rear doors and back glass can go darker for privacy, and most owners pick a rear shade they like on a sample held to the glass.
