Frameless glass, so the edge must be cut to the gasket. We cut on a board to the real window and the edge sits where it should.
Model S and Model X
The S has the longer curve and the X has the taller glass. Both are shaped with the same patience and quoted by model.

Lines and wiring near the rear glass are shielded before the window is wetted. It is a small step that prevents a big problem.

Why does the Tesla rear window need heat-shaping?
Because it curves both side to side and top to bottom, and flat film will not lie on it without fingers at the edges. We form the film on a glass board until it matches the curve, then move it to the car as one piece. The result looks like it came from the factory.
How close is Compton to the Tesla tint shop?
About 5.4 miles, 11 to 13 minutes outside rush hour, to 22025 S Avalon Blvd Ste A in Carson. It is short enough that most Compton owners wait at the shop rather than making a second trip.
Can the rear glass go darker than the front on a Tesla?
Yes. California keeps the front doors at 70% VLT, but the rear doors and back window can be as dark as you want. Ceramic film at the legal front shade still blocks most of the infrared heat you feel.
Will tint damage the defroster lines on my Tesla?
Not when the glass is prepped the right way. We shield the defroster lines and the nearby electronics before any water goes on, and the film is laid over the lines without scraping. The defroster works exactly as it did.
Does the film affect the Tesla phone key or cameras?
No. The camera zones on the glass are masked and left uncovered, and the ceramic film has no metal, so there is nothing to interfere with the phone key or the sensors. Everything works the same when you drive out.
