Before any film is cut, the camera housing at the top of the windshield and the repeater cameras in the fenders are identified and masked. Film stops short of those zones, so Autopilot, Sentry Mode and the backup camera see exactly what they saw before.
The film is non-metallic. That matters on a Tesla because the phone key, the cellular antenna and the GPS all rely on signals passing through the glass. Ceramic lets them through and still blocks heat.

By never putting film over them. The windshield camera area and the side repeaters are masked before the glass is cleaned, and the film pattern is cut to stop short of each one. The film itself has no metal, so no signal is weakened either.
