Which Model Y windows get film?
The four doors and the one-piece rear glass. The roof glass is already dark from the factory and stays as it is. The rear piece is curved, so it takes shaping time on a board. Ask Nick when you book and he will line up the bay.
What shade can a Downey Model Y legally run?
Front doors stay at the California 70% VLT limit. Rear doors and the back glass can go as dark as you like. A ceramic film at the legal front shade still cuts a large share of heat, so the cabin stays comfortable without a ticket risk.
Why not have a mobile tinter come to Downey instead?
Dust and wind are the enemy of a clean install, and a driveway has both. In the bay the glass is prepped, the film is cut on a board and the edges are set to the gasket. It is done once, and it does not need to be redone next summer.
Will the tint interfere with my Tesla cameras?
No. The camera areas on the glass are masked and left bare, and the ceramic film has no metal content, so there is nothing to block a signal. Your cameras, phone key and sensors keep working the way they did when you drove in.
