Protective coverings go on the door panels and seats before the work starts, and the water used during install is controlled so nothing drips into the door electronics.

Driving from Irwindale
It is about 33.5 miles, roughly 67 to 80 minutes outside rush hour. We are open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and closed on Sunday. Set an appointment and plan to drop the car off for the day, or wait at the shop if you prefer. Tesla owners have driven in from Temecula and San Diego for this work, so Irwindale is well within range.
You can wait inside with free Wi-Fi, Netflix on the TV, seating, a restroom and a water fountain, or walk to the mall, a movie theater or a Starbucks nearby while the Irwindale job is finished. Should I tint a brand-new Tesla right away or wait?
Right away is best. The glass does not need to settle, and the sooner the film is on, the sooner the cabin stops baking. Most Irwindale owners book within the first couple of weeks of delivery. The install does not touch the paint or the interior beyond the protective coverings.
Is it really worth an hour's drive from Irwindale for tint on a new Tesla?
For a new car, yes. The rear window is done as one sheet, the frameless doors are cut to the seal, and the cameras stay clear. That is the finish you want on a car you just bought, and it beats having film redone later. Plenty of owners drive farther than Irwindale for it. Window film is applied to the inside of the glass and removed without harm, so it does not alter the car. We do not drill, cut trim or disconnect anything to install tint.### What should a new Tesla owner pick for the rear doors and back glass? Most new-delivery customers go dark in the rear doors and rear glass for privacy and keep the fronts at the California legal shade, with ceramic film for heat. The factory roof glass is already dark. We hold the samples against your glass outside in daylight so you see the actual look before anything is cut.
How long does the new car need to stay buttoned up after tint?
Leave the windows up for a few days so the film cures against the glass. Avoid the rear defroster during that time. After that the car is back to normal use, and the film is cleaned with any ammonia-free glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
