The drive from El Monte
About 26.6 miles, roughly 53 to 64 minutes outside rush hour. Open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Sunday. Make an appointment, then drop the car for the day or wait at the shop. Tesla owners have driven in from Temecula for this; El Monte is closer than that by a good margin.

How much cooler does a Tesla feel with film on the doors and rear glass?
Noticeably, especially on the seats facing the sun. Door glass and the rear window take the low afternoon light, and ceramic film rejects most of the infrared before it enters the cabin. After a parking lot afternoon the seats and trim are not radiating at you the way they were.
Is an hour's drive from El Monte worth it for window film?
Most owners do every window in one visit, which makes the trip count. You get a one-piece rear window, legal fronts and a darker rear in the same appointment. Owners come from farther than El Monte for this, and the car is usually ready the same day.
Can the film be seen from outside the car?
Not as anything unusual. The ceramic film is a neutral shade and the factory roof glass is already dark, so the car keeps its look from the street. From inside you notice the glare is softer and the heat is down, with clear camera zones and no change to the exterior.
Is the car taken apart for the rear window film?
No. The film is applied to the inside of the glass with the car fully assembled. Nothing is unbolted, drilled or taken apart. The shaping is done on the outside of the glass with heat, then the sheet is moved inside and installed.
What front shade is legal on a Tesla in California, and does it still help?
The front doors must pass 70% of visible light. Ceramic film at that shade looks light but rejects most of the infrared heat, so the fronts still get cooler. The rear doors and the back window have no shade limit, so those can go darker.
