The X has more glass than any other Tesla and a windshield that sweeps up into the roof. Door panels are tall, the falcon doors need patience to work around, and the whole job takes longer, which is why it is quoted by model.

What we tint for Cypress Teslas
Model Y and Model 3
The volume Teslas. Frameless doors, a one-piece rear window and a lot of glass area for the size of the car. Film goes on hand-cut, edges set to the gasket, no light gap.
Model S
Long curved door glass that must be shaped with heat before it will lie flat. Same ceramic film as the rest, more time on the board.
Rear-window electronics
Defroster lines and nearby electronics are shielded before the glass is wetted. It is a prep step, not a repair, and it is why we do it every time.

From Cypress to the shop
Plan on about 13 miles and 26 to 31 minutes outside rush hour. We are open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and closed on Sunday. Schedule first, then decide whether to wait at the shop or drop the X and pick it up later. The shop is near the beach in Carson and owners come from well beyond Orange County for this.
Waiting inside is easy for Cypress customers: there is seating, Netflix on the TV, free Wi-Fi, a restroom and a water fountain, and a mall, movie theaters, restaurants and a Starbucks are within walking distance. The shop is LGBTQ-friendly and everyone from Cypress is welcome. From Cypress you can reach us by the 110, the 405 or the 710; the shop is right off the 110 at Avalon Blvd.

Cypress questions we hear
Why is the Model X quoted differently from a Model 3?
Glass area. The X has taller doors, a larger rear window and a windshield that reaches into the roof, so it uses more film and more labor hours. Each Tesla is quoted by model at the shop so the number reflects the actual car in the bay.
Do the falcon doors complicate a Model X tint?
They change how the car is worked, not the result. The upper door glass is reached with the doors raised, and the pieces are cut on a glass board before they go anywhere near the car. It takes longer than a sedan, and we schedule it that way.
Should a Cypress driver make the trip for ceramic Tesla tint?
Thirteen miles is a modest drive for an install that will be on the car for years. Owners come from much farther than Cypress because the film is hand-cut, the cameras are protected and the price is quoted straight by model. Book, drive in, and it is done the same day.
Can the front Model X windows be tinted legally?
Yes, at California 70% VLT. Ceramic film at that shade looks nearly clear but still blocks a large share of infrared heat. The rear doors and back glass can be darker, so the cabin stays cooler and the kids in the back get shade.
Will tint on a Tesla cause any sensor or camera trouble?
It will not. Camera areas on the glass are masked and left clear, and the ceramic film carries no metal, so there is no signal interference. Phone key, cameras and sensors all work the way they did when you arrived.
