Chino to the shop
About 44 miles, roughly 88 to 106 minutes outside rush hour. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, closed Sunday. Book ahead and come in the morning, then drop the Y for the day or wait at the shop. Owners drive in from Temecula and San Diego, which is farther than Chino, so the trip is a normal one for this work.
For a longer job from Chino, some people walk to the mall, the movie theaters or a coffee shop nearby; the DoubleTree down the street has a full bar, and Cabrillo Beach is about 12 minutes away. Everyone is welcome; we are an LGBTQ-friendly shop. Coming from Chino, take whichever is moving: the shop is right off the 110 and easy from the 405 and the 710.

Why would a Chino owner drive 44 miles for Model Y tint?
Because the install is the reason to drive. The film is hand-cut to the glass, the rear window is shaped as one piece, the cameras are protected and the quote is straight by model. About 44 miles, 88 to 106 minutes outside rush hour, and it is done once.
What makes the Model Y rear window tricky?
It is large and curves in two directions, so flat film will not sit on it. We form the film on a glass board to the curve and lay it as a single piece. Done right it looks like factory glass; rushed, it shows fingers and haze.
Can the Model Y doors and rear glass be done on the same visit?
Yes, if the time is booked. Doors and rear glass block most of the heat you feel, and the rear piece takes the longest because of the curve it is shaped to. Tell Nick when you call so the bay is scheduled for the full job.
What front tint is legal on a Model Y in California?
The front doors must stay at 70% VLT. Ceramic at that shade keeps blocking a good share of infrared heat, so the front seats stay comfortable without a dark look. Behind the front doors the glass can go as dark as you want.
Will the Model Y cameras work after the tint?
Yes. Each camera zone on the glass is masked and left uncovered, and the ceramic film has no metal, so nothing interferes with the cameras or the phone key. We look through every camera area before the car leaves the bay.
