The drive from Pomona
About 41.6 miles, so plan on roughly an hour and twenty-five minutes to an hour and forty outside rush hour. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 9:30 to 6:00 and closed Sunday. Book ahead, then wait at the shop or drop the car and spend a few hours near the coast. Wait inside (seating, Netflix, free Wi-Fi, restroom, water fountain) or take a walk: restaurants, coffee shops, a Starbucks, a mall and movie theaters are all within walking distance, which Pomona customers tell us makes the drop-off painless. How much cooler does a Tesla get with the side and rear glass filmed?
Enough to notice on the first hot afternoon. Sun enters through the doors and the big rear window, and ceramic film cuts a large share of that heat. The cabin is cooler when you open the door, and the climate system settles sooner. The factory roof glass is already dark.
Why drive from Pomona instead of tinting closer to home?
Because the one-piece rear glass is the panel most often done poorly, and Tesla Tint LA shapes it as a single sheet, week in and week out. The shop regularly sees owners from Temecula and San Diego, so a Pomona trip is a normal one for film that is installed once and correctly.
Does the film change the outside look of my Tesla?
Only on the glass that gets filmed. The side and rear windows look a little darker, which most owners want. Ceramic never goes mirrored and does not turn purple over time. The factory roof glass already reads nearly black, so the car keeps its original look from the driveway.
Is anything removed from the car to film the rear glass?
No. The film is shaped on a separate surface, carried inside and applied to the rear glass with the trim and lighting left in place. No blade touches the glass and nothing is drilled or glued. The door windows are done the same way.
Will ceramic film block the phone key or the cameras?
No. Ceramic film has no metal layer, so the phone key, card reader and the car's cellular and GPS signals pass through as before. The windshield camera window and the pillar cameras are left clear. Driver-assist features and the app connection are unchanged.
