Driving from Placentia
Count on about 22.9 miles and roughly 46 to 55 minutes outside rush hour. We are open Monday through Saturday 9:30 to 6:00 and closed on Sunday. Make an appointment, then wait at the shop or drop the car and return when it is ready. Placentia questions we hear
Does the Model Y rear hatch glass get tinted as one piece?
Yes. The hatch window on a Model Y is wide and curved, and Tesla Tint LA shapes a single sheet of ceramic film to fit it. There are no horizontal seams and no strips. The defroster lines on the inside of the glass are protected while the film is worked down.
Is the drive from Placentia worth it for Model Y tint?
Yes. It is under an hour outside rush hour, the install is done by a shop that tints Teslas every week, and you get a rear window and door glass done right the first time. Owners come from much farther than Placentia for the same thing; some have driven in from San Diego.
Will ceramic tint on a Model Y affect the rear camera or sensors?
No. The rear camera sits in the hatch above the plate, not in the glass, and the pillar cameras and repeaters are left clear. Ceramic film has no metal, so the phone key, card reader and cellular connection all work as they did before the tint.
How dark can the Model Y rear windows go?
As dark as you like. California limits only the front door windows, which Tesla Tint LA installs at the legal shade. The rear doors and the hatch glass can go darker for privacy and heat. Nick will show you shade samples on your own car so the rear and front look balanced.
How long should I plan for a full Model Y tint?
A few hours, depending on how much coverage you choose. Rear glass, four doors and fronts take the longest; sides and rear only is shorter. You can wait at the shop or leave the car. Book ahead so the bay is reserved for your Model Y when you arrive from Placentia.
