How do you get the Model 3 rear window film to fit without seams?
By shaping it before it goes on the car. The sheet is laid over the outside of the glass, heated until it takes the full curve, then moved inside and installed as a single piece. That is the only way to avoid a line across the rear view, and it is standard at Tesla Tint LA.
Is the drive from Marina del Rey reasonable for a Model 3 tint?
Yes. Just over half an hour each way, with the car in the bay for a few hours in between. Audio MotorSports regularly tints Teslas for owners who drive in from more than 100 miles out, so a Marina del Rey trip is a short one for an install that will not need redoing.
Will ceramic film affect the Model 3's phone key or Autopilot?
No. Ceramic film contains no metal, so Bluetooth from your phone key, the pillar card reader and the car's cellular link all work as before. The windshield camera window and the pillar camera lenses are left clear, so Autopilot's view is unchanged.
Does the Model 3 need more than the rear window done to stay cool?
The factory roof glass is already dark, so the work goes on the side and rear glass. Ceramic film on the doors and the one-piece rear window cuts the heat that reaches the front seats while changing the outside appearance very little. It goes on from inside with the trim left in place.
Can I bring a second car for window tint on the same day?
Yes. Audio MotorSports tints non-Tesla vehicles too, so a household's second car can be booked alongside the Model 3. Tesla work is quoted by model, and the other car gets the standard tint pricing. Call ahead so both appointments are set up together.
